It's one of the most inventive movies I've seen in a while, with stunning, surreal visuals, and a clever and original concept. All the actors do a fine job -- Jim Carrey and Ed Harris (in a sort of twisted play off his flight commander role from Apollo 13) are especially good.
There are so many layers to the story -- it's first and foremost a commentary on our media obsession (with a healthy dose of Big Brother paranoia), but it's also about human nature, about a child breaking away from his "father," about exploration. There's so much there, but I can't go into any of it without giving away plot, which I don't want to do, so just go see it and discuss amongst yourselves.
